Bit peeved tbh as I used the eligibility calculator and it came back at 95% acceptance for many cards for me, I have a good income, low outgoings, no defaults, and all green go go go inspector gadget on my monthly scores yet i got declined.
Does this mean you can take the EC with a pinch of salt?
Now this will be on my credit file and I'll have to wait a long time til I can apply again with this being removed...

It just means you're the 5%.0

It's just one credit search! Why wait "a long time" before making another application? Now this will be on my credit file and I'll have to wait a long time til I can apply again with this being removed...

Are you appealing the Halifax decision? Others have reported success with this.
Do you have a financial associate? If so, maybe the eligibility checker doesn't search their file whereas Halifax have?0 -

What! This is ridiculous. 95% is as good as it gets on the EC i reckon. Did you have a Halifax current account when you applied? Wonder if i should get the Halifax Reward account for a few months before applying?

That's my point - before I've been quoted 75% - risked it and accepted straight away.
My history is good with all my lenders and I've not been late once and keep them all in check... I just don't want to apply again or with another lender (such as Lloyds for the 0% purchases) for it to be rejected also because of this recent search.. always sends alarms bells to lenders !
Oh well, I might appeal...
Cheers everyone.0 -
Don't trust that eligibility calculator.
It said I had 0% chance of getting a sainsburys card applied and was accepted with a 2k limit.
The good thing about the Halifax is you can reapply every 28 days.Im an ex employee RBS GroupHowever Any Opinion Given On MSE Is Strictly My Own0 -
Not always! I made 4 successful applications between January and April this year, and I've previously made 4 or 5 in a single day!...for it to be rejected also because of this recent search.. always sends alarms bells to lenders !
Of course if you're borderline in other areas (salary, available credit, indebtedness, financial associate issues, etc) then this could alter things.0 -

4 successful credit card applications? Wow at least it proves it's possible to apply a couple of time within a short period of time and be successful if your history is decent.
