Mobile phone insurance

I'm about to start a new mobile phone contract and I was wondering what is the best way to insure it? vodafone is offering insurance at £30 a year, is there anyway of getting this cheaper. There must be insurance companies unconnected to mobile operators that will insure my phone for less woth the same or better benefits. If I buy my holiday from Thomas Cook and I can still get my insurance from Thompson etc etc, does the same apply to mobiles.

Any help appreciated!!!Also is there a catch to cash back by cheque offer from a mobile provider!!!

Do you have personal possesions cover on your home insurance?

If so i wouldnt bother with mobile insurance as you loss is covered under that

Unless you are spending silly money on a phone I wouldn't bother with insurance. Phones are so cheap these days that insurance isn't worth it IMO.

I agree insuring the handset isn't worth it. It was more the fact that if someone steals my phone and runs up a bill of 000s or 0000s, the insurance should cover it. My home contents insurance wouldn't cover this. Any cheap mobile phone insurance deals out there?
