Hi all, I'm looking at buying a new car and considering going down either the pcp or leasing route. I have always purchased using cash or HP in the past so I'm just wondering if anyone has experience of using arnold clark for pcp? Basically I'm wondering how they were at the end of the term, i.e. is it common for companies to be pernickity in the extreme and milk any small scratches etc to charge you more money?
Also, when I was in the showroom the salesman was inputting my cars details for a part exchange, he are me to electronically sign to allow him to do the search, stupidly I did this without checking what was actually on his screen so I could have been signing for anything! Is this normal for them to ask you to sign for this? I have never done it in the past as far as I can recall.

Thanks in advance

they are called ARNOLD SHARK for a good reason. I would only use them to hire a car.
  • They are the Ryanair of the motor industry. Rack 'em high and sell 'em cheap.
  • I've bought a couple of cars from AC and although not a pleasant experience I was happy with the deal.

It's normal to sign for them to value your car and check for any outstanding finance.

Don't accept the first offer they give you and if possible visit a few dealers (even other AC branches as they are franchised). They will often compete with each other.

    Thanks for the replies.

Yeah iv been trying to play everyone off against each other, iv been to motorpoint, 2 arnold clarks and for pcp deals to kia for a lease deal. Trying to get the best deal possible. I generally change cars every few years so long term HP probydoesnt suit me, I'm still a little wary of pcp and lease though

From what I've been told about leasing, you get a much better deal if you stick with the same company for another lease after yours is up.

That might not be applicable in all situations, but it is what I have been told by someone who has leased for many years.
