This forum often reduces in size to two thirds of my laptop screen with a correspondingly small font size, CTRL & F10 does not have any effect. restarting the laptop doesn't help, any other ideas please?

Do you mean CTRL & 0?

Using Internet Explorer 11, CTRL & F10 on my laptop displays and takes the focus to the menu bar.
