All inclusive holidays don't appeal to me, partly because I prefer to travel around the country on my holidays rather than stay in one place and partly because I want to eat differently every night.

I know that a lot of people swear by them and I'm not knocking that at all. Everyone wants something different from their trip and spending a few hours travelling every few days would fill most people with a sense of dread.

I am interested what the main appeal is, though. Is it the fact that you know your entire holiday cost (give or take the odd souvenir)? Is it the ability to eat & drink as much as you'd like? The availability of familiar food? Perhaps something else.

Cuba is lovely, our hotel was half board (breakfast and evening meal), we mainly went back to the hotel to each as we found the food in local restaurants to be very bland, unless you wanted an extremely salty burger.

I'll have a look when I've finished work to see what the hotel was called, the food was very nice and during our seven night stay we didn't eat the same thing twice.

For us it's the knowledge that everything is paid for... In searing heat the endless soft drinks throughout the day mount up if on half board. AI means we can stay hydrated and enjoy ourselves at nigtht too. We still eat out for a change and enjoy trying new restaurants but the drinks make it worthwhile ( not alcoholic but soft drinks)
