Hi Guys,
Need some advice, what is the best/easiest way of removing wallpaer.
I've used a steam machine, which has done a decent job on the top half of the wall but the bottom half will not remove. I'm not sure sure whether this is down to the paint on the paper, but it seems to be the same paint/paper.
Any suggestions?
Thanks

Have you scored the paper before steaming it?0

Not really, will this make a difference?
yes.
it lets the steam penetrate through to the paste. especially if there are layers of paint on top of the paper.
i use a small yellow round tool from the diy store that pricks the paper as you run it over the area first.
some of my walls are harder to de-wallpaper than others (the plasterboard ones). maybe the wall itself is different underneath some bits.
also don't forget to clean the wall with sugar soap afterwards.0 -

Thanks guys, my missus is busting my balls over this DIY job so any help is greatly appreciated.
How does the sugar soap hlep afterwards?0 -
sugar soap simply cleans the walls - so if your planning on painting after it will get rid of most of the old paste to give you a better finish.

The bottom half may have a lining paper under it as well ie making two layers of paper to steam through and peel of Scoring paper is essential in this case.THE SHABBY SHABBY FOUNDER0

Also, if you do Crisscrosses on you paper with a knife or blade, this will alow either the steam or the hotsoapy/softener water to get under the paper and make it easier to strip.0 -
Thanks to all, i've scorched the paper and it has made it a lot easier to peel off.
You've all saved me from another bout of nagging from the wife :T0
