are you claiming on the critical illness policy as you cannot work? what exactly does it cover you for?
Ah - I cannot work because of a shattered ankle from a road accident, the Critical Illness covers me for things like cancer, stroke, heart attack etc, also because this had happened before I took out the policy it is not covered under the pre-existing conditions section.
it might be worth looking more closely at the finer details of this policy.
See above! :rotfl:
if most of your income is for yourself, could you pay most of your income off the credit cards as soon as you get it. give yourself a small weekly allowance so that you don't feel hard done by.
I hope to - that is why I pay £50.00 per fortnight - the main thing is to stop me putting any more on it!
also, until the card is paid off, think about everything you might buy using martin's mantra - ?can you afford it? (at the moment, no) do you really need it? can you get it cheaper anywhere else? if all that fails - use quidco at least!
Hmm - this is why I need help! I had always had a good salary and could basically buy what I wanted when I wanted it! Time to think differently!
good luck x
Thanks sazzacat, I need all the help I can get!Do not meddle in the affairs of Dragons, for thou art crunchy and good with catsup

Ok - I have cancelled the Credit Expert payment (woo hoo another £6.00 per month!) and I remembered that I have a quarterly DD go out for a magazine - for the last few months I just haven't enjoyed the mag (they changed the format and the type of designs they have in it)- so that has been cancelled as well - another £7.50 a quarter!
These may not be much but it all adds up!Do not meddle in the affairs of Dragons, for thou art crunchy and good with catsup

I haven't looked at Quidco yet (memo to self - sign up!), I got BBC Good Food and BBC Gardener's World for £3 for 3 issues (will decide whether to keep them on or not after the first couple of issues!) - the other magazine was a cross stitching one - these are the only ones I read generally!
I have just phoned up to get new T&C for my Critical Illness cover - I want to double check if I can cash in early or not.Do not meddle in the affairs of Dragons, for thou art crunchy and good with catsup

No to the cashing in early for the Critical Illness (well not this early at any rate :rotfl:), the CC is decreasing slowly! and the savings are creeping up  - I am no where near needing to use my o/d facility (and indeed I am wondering about cancelling it - but then again they do not charge me if I don't use it!).
I want to have £150.00 saved by early December  AND have the CC down to less than £1,000 - oh and to have lost some weight as at the moment it is going on not coming off! :mad:Do not meddle in the affairs of Dragons, for thou art crunchy and good with catsup

Looks as though I am well on target for the savings! CC is being whittled away more slowly but it is getting there! AND I finally shifted a small amount of weight! (it seems eating enough is the key here!):rolleyes:Do not meddle in the affairs of Dragons, for thou art crunchy and good with catsup

Ok we finally move into the house next week (nice but scary thought!), we have ample savings for all the expenses that will occur (thank whatever deity you hold holy!) AND my parents sent us £200 to go out for a slap up meal! How much do they think we put away (I know I am 150pounds overweight but  .... ah just re-read the letter and in Dad's scrawl at the bottom it says how about a takeaway and use the rest towards a new Washer/dryer!)Do not meddle in the affairs of Dragons, for thou art crunchy and good with catsup
