flickering hood lights?

strange question
would a light bulb flicker if it was about to blow/die?
Our cooker hood , has two bulbs like this
and has started flickering , sometimes the button works , sometimes doesnt , bulbs have not blown as yet , not where i look at the filament anyway
So , do bulbs flicker when near the end , or have i a different problem , with the hood itself?
cheers

Never, under any circumstances, take a sleeping pill and a laxative on the same night.

Switch the power to the hood off, remove the bulb and clean the holder connectors and bulb base thoroughly then make sure the bulb is screwed back in firmly so it makes a good connection, I have had the same problem it can be grease in the bulb holder and connector.0

Thanks , its funny , since i took the bulbs out to have a look , and then put back in , the flickering stopped , so perhaps just that sorted the connection out , i`ll do it thoroughly , later , thanksNever, under any circumstances, take a sleeping pill and a laxative on the same night.0

If its just one light Number of things can cause it, lamp in holder loose not making good connection tighten lamp, worn lamp holder replace lamp holder , filament in the lamp (bulb) itself is loose replace lamp , loose cable terminations tighten screws , worn switches replace switch , abnormal loading ( normally dims and brightens more than flickers )more industrial installation can happen in countryside though shared 3ph supplies etc
If it’s a number of lights then I’d go arcing loose, worn terminal, cable connection , switch etc0
