MCE Insurance Woes - Warning

I contacted MCE insurance to cancel my motorcycle policy today. In September 2016 I took out fully comp (thats a laugh in it's own way.) Costing £200,They said the would be at £60 cancellation fee plus a charge for the months I had been insured this was to cover the almost 4 months I had the policy. This figure was £160 but they would waive the £20, I owed them. You make up your mind would you use them.:mad:
That's just bad form from you for not checking the cancellation conditions before taking out the policy.0 -
Dear All,
We too had an awful experience with MCE and Plantec. We parked out scooter and was hit, minor damage but they forced us to get a hired scooter.
There are an extensive amount of complain and many went through hell because of them.
I would like to WARN other people , but the only way to do so is to make them accountable, being all together and united. It would be great to be able to cooperate, for those who want and can, and to put together our skills to make these companies accountable, on the contrary it will be enough to know that you are there.
I found profoundly unfair the treatment and distress often for months or years , not to mention loss of money in some cases, we have to face because of them.
I look forward to hearing from you.
We could create a group on FB as a start, open to better ideas.
Thank you.
Kind regards,

I recently had my motorbike stolen form my gated front drive, although I had secured my bike with an Oxford chain on the back wheel and a combination lock and chain on the front wheel.
MCE are now repudiating my claim as the steering lock fitted to the bike was not set correctly.
I feel this is a grossly unfair company to deal with and would advise anybody thinking of insuring their bike through them to think twice.
They will happily take your premiums but when it comes to you making a claim they will try every technicality they can find to not pay you out.
Edit1 -
Whenever you are unhappy with an insurer your route is to make a formal complaint in line with their complaints procedure which will be set out in the policy docs
Then if you are unhappy with their reply or they ignore you for 8 weeks you can escalate to the FOS for their adjudication at no cost to you1 -
I wish I'd seen this post before i used MCE Insurance last year and lost over £600... the company is simply out to scam you once they have tricked you into using them by coming out the cheapest on price comparison websites.... paid £850 for a full years insurance only to get an email (yes an email) a month later saying they have cancelled my policy because they rang me and i never pick up???? !!!!!! whats wrong in a written (traceable) letter if they want additional info off me..... i don't answer my mobile to private/withheld numbers (which they used) anyway.. who does....its just a scam to con you...
They refunded just under £200 saying that their T&C's state they can keep 75% if your premium plus admin fee.. Not if that not just criminal I don't know what is...... Waiting for response off ombudsman0 -
I’ve been with MCE for a few years and never needed their customer service. This week I managed to get onto their online ‘chat’ and I informed ‘John’ that I was moving to Ireland due to a medical discharge from the British Army. He asked me ‘when’ and ‘where’ then informed me that MCE would not cover me in Ireland. When I asked about the ‘visit’ from the ferry port to our future home, he insisted that it was not a visit as I’d already told him I was moving to ireland! Penalised for honesty. I immediately sent MCE an email complaint with the full chat conversation included. Silence. I move in fourteen days. No cover from the Ireland port onwards. MCE should be ashamed but as they have my money? Avoid them.0

I was knocked off my bike in May, the driver admitted fault, I was handed over to Fletchers solicitors by MCE and did all the paper work, I still (now Sept) have not got anywhere with this, I can't get hold of the guy at Fletchers, MCE just hand me over to the receptionist at fletchers who I have to leave a message with and wait for a phone call back which never happens. I get no answers to emails from MCE or Fletchers. I have no idea what to do next as I know the Insurance ombudsman will not take this on until I complete the MCE complaints procedure. This just seems to be more and more like a scam. I have no bike, no money and missed all of summer and no nearer to get any money !!. HHHHHEEEEELLLLP !!!.0

This company is 1 big scam. They called me asking for refund of money they never sent me, blaming it on an IT mishap. Then threatened me with court if I didn't pay it. Have had to bring in lawyers. Have spoken to other riders who have had the same issue.
