Morrison's pay at pump - CHECK your points

Hi,

This is a heads up warning that you could be being ripped off, thinking you had got your Morrison's match and more points from the pay and pump machines when you hadn't.

So, I filled at the pump. Put the nozzle back in holder. Up comes the points wanted or not wanted so I press wanted. Insert card, so I insert the match and more card. Except when the wife checks the receipt that comes out it says "you COULD have got xx points". The points didn't go on. And PITA I then had to drive back to customer services in the store as the garage couldn't fix the problem. In the store, the customer services chap said this wasn't the first time and he had raised it with the manager. It seems like if you put the card in the wrong way (which was what was suggested was the issue, I can't remember which way for sure) then it doesn't say, you've put the card in the wrong way, it just carries on and silently fails to give you the points.

So heads up, check that you have been given the points you expected as you might have silently been ripped off.

If it is related to the card being put in the wrong way, though, you haven't been ripped off, have you? You've missed out through ineptitude.

BTW, I'm not saying this is definitely the problem or not/your fault or not, just trying to put a bit of perspective on things. People are all too quick to shout 'SCAM' or 'RIP OFF' when there's often a rational alternative explanation.
  • When you put the Match and More card in, be sure to wait till it tells you to remove the card before doing so, i had a similar thing a few weeks ago (about 70 litres too) almost 100% sure i put the card in and then pulled it out before the machine had registered it.

For the 70p approx involved i really couldn't be bothered getting it sorted.
  • the points on my ford Cortina closed , once whilst at a morrisons petrol station , however we managed to push it to one side , and used our points card to set the gap

  • They need to update their pay at pump machines, they're so slow. Asda have updated theirs and they're considerably quicker. Too much standing around waiting for the machine to decide to read your card or print receipt.
    Mortgage remaining: £42,260 of £77,000 (2.59% til 03/18 - 2.09% til 03/23)

    Savings target June 18 - £22,281.99 / £25,000

The new ASDA machines still have flaws, they ask if you want a receipt, when you press yes, it makes a few noises but half the time no receipt comes out still.

They really aren't worth a lot to be honest.
I wouldn't be that bothered if I forgot to hand me card over now and again.

Just how much is points on say £50 worth.....
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.
  • 10 points for every litre of fuel - 5000 points before you get a £5 voucher to spend in store, can't even use it on fuel!

It's worth it if you do also do your weekly shop there though. Even if it only tops up the points a relatively small amount compared to the shopping points. We tend to get our £5 voucher every 4-5 weeks

I don't do the stereotypical 'big weekly monthly shop' and as you have to spend £15 in store before you get the points I hardly get any.
