Asda Changes to Payments for Online Groceries
Options
Just Received this by email:
Hi
We're getting in touch to let you know that we're changing the way we process payments for your Asda online grocery orders.
From 2nd September 2015, we'll take payment for the online order value of your delivery or collection once you've received your order. In some instances, we may need to make a subsequent adjustment to your payment on the day, for example to take into account variable weight or unavailable items. The adjustment and original online order value may appear as two separate transactions on your bank statement – but your final payment amount will always be the confirmed value at the bottom of your delivery note.

Thanks

So they will put a hold on 2 lots of the amount your shopping costs. What happens if you don't have all this excess money in your bank account!0

FAQ
"We’ve listened to our customers and we've learnt that our payment process was rather complicated, so, we've made some changes to make it easier."

Are there any customers who thought things were confusing before but less confusing now? It seems to me that the process is changing for the company's convenience not that of the customer. Why are changes for alleged simplification nearly always changes for the worse?
However, ASDA won't be reserving the whole cost of the order twice. ASDA reserves 1p until payment is due. The issue is that if items on order are out of stock the customer will have to pay for those items at the time of non-delivery and then wait a few days for a refund.
"Up until 2nd September 2015..." (old system) but "From 2nd September 2015..." (new system). To me "up until 2nd" includes 2nd. I wonder if it was meant to read "From 3rd". In any case there should have been at least a few weeks between the announcement and the change taking place.
I wonder if enough customers complain ASDA will once again listen and make changes to simplify matters.0
