Wireless internet connection at Uni

I'm in the process of buying my son one of the DELL Inspiron 6400 for when he goes off to Uni in October (after kindly getting adivse form this site). However, I am confused about the internet connection options that are offered with it. Should I be ordering wireless broadband as an extra on his lap top? We have broadband at home and cant imagine him having to go back to dial up when using his lap top at Uni. Also does he need a wireless router? Do I need to know the ISP the Uni uses before I buy the laptop? Many thanks for all the help I've received so far!

No - 6400 has it built-in doesn't it?
Depends - Is he staying in Halls, with supplied internet access, if so, you need to check with them how it is supplied.
No.Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0 -
Sorry - it's the mobile broadband that's the extra I'm wondering if I need to get. He is staying in halls for his first year with supplied internet access.0

Mobile broadband as in mobile phone/always on, then no, the bills will be horrendous.
I would just buy the laptop, and worry about the rest when he gets there.Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0 -
Yep I'll do that! Thanks for your time!0
