I had led ceiling lights (4) put in my kitchen 22 months ago and they have been brilliant , a couple of weeks ago one started to go out after it had been on a few minutes an now a second one has . When I turn the switch off they come back on just for a few minutes or so . Does anyone know if this is what happens when the bulbs go although I exspected them to last longer , I find it strange that they still come on for a bit . Don't want the expense of an electrician if it's just the bulbs . also are they hard to fit new bulbs . Thanks 😄

are they 12 volt LED's ? could be the transformer on the way out ??
I've had Wickes clip together connectors fail on me in the past and I've had to cut them off and replace with a wiring block and reterminate the MR16 or GU 10 cable onto the blockEx forum ambassador

If the're GU10 or MR16 they're easy enough to fit yourself, take one out to have a look at it and see what it is. Might be overheating, or the transformer might just be failing, a common problem with cheapo lights. If it's GU10 (the pins look like the head of a nail) instead of MR16 (pins look like the bottom of a nail) then it's easier as the transformer is built in.0

Thank you . Will get my son to get one out . Do you mean the transformer is fitted on the bulb of the MR 16 and not on god G U10Never pay more than you have too0

GU10's are normally 240v and no transformer. GU16s can be 12v OR 240v only by checking the bulb can you know for sure.0

GU10 - everything is inside the light unit. Plugs into AC.
MR16 - needs a external transformer.0 -

Sounds like the power supply is failing. The No.1 reason for LED failure is not the LED itself it's the power supply and more specifically the resistor.
This is where corners are always cut to get manufacturing costs down. Consumers are not going to open up an LED lamp, even if they do they are not going to know what they are looking at or for.
The vast majority of all LED's on the market will fail prematurely due to poor quality power supplies.
Still amazes me that people see really cheap LED lamps for sale and think they will last the absurd 15-20 year life expectancy the company is claiming.0
