provisional license

Hi all this is my first post on this site so excuse any mess ups, my question is can your spouse drive your motobility car with only a provisional license obeying all the laws of course ie: L plates and the registered owner/driver being present..

    - no, not the way you have phrased it my friend
    - your wife needs to be (1) an acceptable risk to the insurance company over 21 years of age
    - and must be accompanied by (2) a driver over 21 who has held their UK licence for at least three years

    Its always best to as Savvy_Sue says and check with Motabilty. Best of luck.

  • Yes you can. My dad made some checks with Motability regarding this recently, as I have just started driving lessons in an automatic (after a 20 year break) and I plan on driving my dad around to gain some road experience and to take the pressure off him as due to his failing health he struggles to get in and out of the driving seat of his car. Getting me added to his insurance was not a problem.

    yes he can,,i put wife as a driver when she had provisional licience,,and took her out driving lessons,,,,,as long as u let motability know ,,be fine
  • Thanx for the anwsers they have helped as I am about to apply for a motobility car and can drive myself for short distances ( I've held a clean full licence since the 70s )I'm always with my wife as she helps with the wheelchair since I have always owned my car my wife who's American has never bothered to take her test just used her provisionaI license I just added her to my insurance and stuck on the Lplates, at least now I have a starting place before I start visiting car dealerships.
