I have a default on my Call Credit report from Swift Sterling which has nothing to do with me.
Call Credit has refused to deal with it as the dispute i raised with them they said that it was not a mistake.
I escalated it to the Financial Ombudsman but have just been told by them that they are unable to deal with it as Swift Sterling are based in Malta!!
Help please

Tricky 1, I was going to suggest a prove it letter but not sure it would work as they are based in Malta.
Try contacting them via the web chat on the website ?

Did the good old FOS suggest anything else?
You are always free to issue your own court papers, done it plenty of times through moneyclaimonline and won my case's for smallish amounts/victories when it called for it x0 -
They advised contacting the Malta Financial Services AuthoritySmile and be happy, things can usually get worse!0

Swift sterling's complaints procedure mentions the FOS but is pointless

How about the ICO who should have some say over the processing of a UK residents' data0

I'm at my wits end with these jokers, my fixed term mortgage expires in December and i have the impression that this default will cost me a decent deal.
Please advise me what my next step is, thanks for the advise so far.

I would call the ICO.:beer:0

You've made no mention of any interaction with Swift themselves.
What's happened in this regard.0 -
Is it only Call Credit that show this data? Have you checked Equifax and Experian?
I would continue to pursue Call Credit. They are the ones disseminating the information that is incorrect. It is for them to justify its accuracy, not for you to demonstrate its inaccuracy.
If you have no contract with, or prior business relationship with Swift, I see no need for you to contact them.Optimists see a glass half full
