I have a lenovo yoga 2notebook running windows 8.1 pro (64 bit) and IE. Recently I tried to install an app which turned out to need Java RTE. This is not installed on my Yoga and when I went to download it, I was pointed at Oracle as it seems to be an Oracle product.
I looked it up on the web at this stage and there seemed to be some reports that the app i wanted to install did not work with Win 8.1 64 bit and in any case needed a Chrome interface . Plus there was a fault in IE when installing the app. My head started to hurt at this stage . Has anyone successfully got Java Rte successfully running on my pc configuration!

This is the correct site to download Java
https://java.com/en/download/
Should work fine on 64 bit 8.10 -
I seem to remember it offers to download toolbars or other bad things.
Make sure you read carefully every dialog box in the install process, and un-tick any such options if they are offered to you.0 -
I remember it did in the past; nothing bad, just unwanted stuff. The last update didn't try to download anything though.
And it was pretty obvious when and what it was offering and how to avoid it, though obviously it would have been better to have been opt in rather than opt out.0
