changing from monthly (toric) contact lenses to daily, anyone?

Most opticians have a preferred company but hold accounts with all of the manufacturers.
I think purevision have their place, they're excellent as a bandage lens but I've found refitting a purevision patient is a nightmare. I'm glad I got into the hospital and out of contact lenses before they discontinued it lol0 -
I wonder what your degree of astigmatism is? With low levels you can easily get away with spherical lenses rather than torics.
I use daysoft dailies,,very good and cost effective but deprecated by many optoms mostly because they cant make such big profits with them. I have used j&j acuvues in the past, also very good,,,often used for two days, just cleaning in between days....not recommended..as always be guided by your optomFeudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). I've recently done the same albeit with Specsavers going to Acuvue moist daily torics. I was amazed how thin they were and had a lot of trouble at first but found them better when actually in, I still need drops for comfort after 5/6 hours though.
It did take a lot of trial and error to get the right lenses with the right fit as different manufacturers do slightly different sizes apparently0 -
thanks for the extra replies/info

my last eye test was Dec 2013:
...........right / left
sph -0.25.... -0.50
cyl -1.75.... -0.75
axis 5.... 2
my last purevision & these current trial lenses are:
right / left
-0.25.... -0.50
-1.75.... -0.75
180.... 180
bc 8.5.... dia14.5 (PV was 14.7 i think)
i did wear the acuvue moist with reasonable success for about 6 hours last night. took a few attempts to get them in, especially thr right. the fitting on the right is definitely 'off' as it nearly fell out, just flipped forward by itself, when i was putting my mascara on, never had that before!
vision in both eyes was crystal clear looking straight ahead, slightly out of focus looking down/left/right. after about an hour, the right had obviously gone out of place as completely out of focus. it slipped back into place again about 2 hours later which was a very disconcerting feeling, especially after a few drinks!
i felt it twirl round then vision popped back to crystal clear again, very odd.
we go away on holiday in a few weeks & i really need to have lenses available. it takes at least 5 days for any trial lenses to come into costco so i'm starting to run out of time (i obviously didn't appreciate that there'd be quite as much trial & error in this change over process!). at the moment, i'm nearly ready to give in & just go back to my monthly lenses (which i'll wear nearly every day whilst away) & get back in the habit of wearing them again when back home. but i'll see what happens at my appointment tomorrow...0 -
Have you actually trialled some spherical dailies? I too have astigmatism,,cant recall but more than 1 dioptre i one eye and about 0.75 D in the other and i wear spherical dailies (non toric) with no isuesFeudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry).
