As you have the Brit guide it might be worth looking at https://www.alamo.co.u/brits to see if it's cheaper.

It's not worth paying for extra insurance IMO. Some people will disagree but that is usually based on the practices of car hire companies in Europe where they are generally out to recover extra money from the renter to compensate for low hire charges.

As for the toll pass, there is no other realistic option for a rental car driver as many tolls are cashless. To use it, you don't need to do anything. Just drive through the tolls. You'll be billed to your rental credit card.

Hey, if you think you'll have a great holiday going as a family then go for it.
I just know that something like this wouldn't have been my wife's choice to celebrate her 40th.
And we took our kids to Florida so often they eventually begged us not to go again.
I just hope you think seriously about everything you're thinking of doing - a drive to the Kennedy Space Centre or to the Everglades with a 4-year-old in the back of the car ?
If you can consider taking grandparents to help give you some quality time with the missus on her 40th.

Eh ? It is 45 easy miles to Kennedy. Most children can happily tolerate a journey of that length . I honestly doubt there are many families who can't handle a holiday with one child to Disney......most throughly enjoy it especially if they plan properly.

A colleague took her 5 year old to Disney, Florida but on her return said it was a total waste of money. Her son was only interested in the pool at the hotel and moaned all day asking when they were going back to the hotel.
