Can I claim contribution esa?

I claimed jsa contribution based this year, when I was looking for a job, my contributions ran out... Now I find myself poorly with a condition and unfit to work.. Would I be able to claim esa contribution or would I not be able to now? Wouldn't qualify for income based as husband works over 40 hours over 16k...Thanks

Not if you contribution has run out. You can try and claim pip though that isn't means tested.0

My understanding is yes - however this isn't something I've gone into in detail.
This is because your contributions have not 'run out' - you have reached the maximum 6 months on conts-based JSA.
This does not terminate your entitlement to conts-based ESA, as it's based on the two qualifying contributions years - and does not mention entitlement to JSA at all.
If you were entitled to conts-based JSA at after the beginning of the year, you will be entitled to conts-based ESA.0
