Faulty Mobile replacement

Hi all,
I took out a contract for an expensive phone at the end of July. When it arrived I noticed that the USB connector was not in the middle of the socket, being a little lower than usual.
It seemed to work OK but at the end of August I could not get the phone to charge or connect to a PC with three different cables. When I took it to Samsung they said it was probably a recessed USB and would not be covered under warranty.
However, they checked it and said it was charging OK, so now I think that what actually happened is that the faulty port allowed my USB cables in over the connecter itself.
I think I should reasonably be given a replacement phone under the Sale Of Goods act even though they only allow replacements after 14 days etc. I would say the fault makes it more likely that the phone will fail in the future.
Thanks for any thoughts!

Its the vendor under SOGA .
Yes you can try for a replacement but they are more than likely to say no .Under SOGA you cannot demand a refund especially based upon it might fail at some time in the future .
You noticed a fault but kept it with that fault rather hampers your rights .0 -
OK thanks.
Yes, I don't necessarily need a refund but I think that the consequences of what was not necessarily perceived as an obvious fault have only just become apparent.
I thought that it could be assumed under SOGA that a fault within 6 months was with the goods as supplied?
Thanks again!0 -
Yes you take it back under SOGA repair replace or refund is up to the vendor .0
