Where do they get their figures from I've never seen medium house prices at such a local level.
Land Reg 2014 sold prices I'd say.

If that's the case how do they come to a meaningful median all they could obtain is the medien price of property sold and if you zoom in on map they go to very small areas incredible amount of work involve.

The prices are at post code district level so easily calculated.

Time consuming for whole country and some post codes will have very few properties sold.

Sorry I'm on a kindle and clearly saw a limited view. I couldnt see a key to the colours either but assumed dark red is can't buy

Could you copy and paste the bits about how it works I'm genuinely interested. Thanks

It divides median house price by the salary figure you enter in the box. Very red means 10x or greater. Quite red means 6-10x. Pinky red is 5-6x.

Looking at my post code it seems to say that you can't afford to buy if median house price is 4x your salary which probably isn't the case. Also using median house price can be misleading as one post code could be predominately flats and terraced house while another could be semis and detached. For me it shows the adjacent post code would be more affordable but in reality if I was to buy same type of property it would cost the same.

Would they not need access to the the landregistry data base or do landregistry publish figures never seen them. Perhaps the guardian should say how they got median figure.
