Can anyone give me some advice. We are stuck in Copenhagen airport after our flight was delayed by just over 3 hours. We had nearly 4 hours to make our connection. Obviously, we missed it.

SAS won't help as we missed their flight.

Norweigan won't help as they say they fulfilled their contractual agreement, despite being 3 hours and 10 minutes late.

Stuck and don't know what to do. Please can anyone give me some advice on what to do please?

I assume this is on separate tickets which does mean separate contracts and the airlines responses will be correct
Depending on the reason for the delay you may be able to claim €250 each for the delay but this does not help you with the SAS flight you missed
You could try your travel insurance and see what they will cover. Unfortunately this is the risk of travelling on separate tickets and why you should allow as long as possible to mitigate risk
If this was on one ticket then the airlines are talking nonsense and you should be rebooked to get you to your final destination

I assume you are not on one ticket ? Otherwise you wouldn't have this issue - sadly it's the hard way to learn the pitfalls of this sort of booking.

Push things with your onward carrier they really should rebook you on the next flight at minimal cost. Try the airport desk and the phone line at the same time.

Otherwise rebook yourself on the next available flight (you'll need a return, not a one way), and reclaim on your travel insurance.

Presumably your SAS flight is long haul, possibly to the Far East, and if so you may find SAS unwilling to offer anything at all except at full price. If so then do not limit yourself to SAS and see what other airlines such as Emirates or Qatar may have to offer. Norwegian I think fly to Bangkok but you may have already had enough of them. SAS and Norwegian are arch enemies and that is why SAS are unlikely to jump in and help unless you have a changeable ticket, and the fact you chose to fly Norwegian instead of SAS from the UK suggests to me that you haven't. I just hope you have good insurance as Norwegian are not easy to get the potential 250 Euros under EU261 for being late, they will probably blame the weather..... Good luck

You buy a new ticket. Separate tickets = you bear the risk. If you have travel insurance they may be able to help.
  • Check online too just incase you can get a cheap flight to where your going

I'm guessing the OP was on the delayed Norwegian flight from Orlando and were connecting to a SAS flight to Newcastle. Unless they want to pay £477 for a flight with SAS tomorrow they might want to look into flying easyJet to EDI (currently around £70).

Yes, we were on the Orlando flight which was delayed due to an issue with catering for the flight. I recorded one of the announcements. I also made a note of all the times on my mobile.

We're booked to fly to Dublin in an hour or so and then to Newcastle very early tomorrow morning. Should get in at 8am.

Must go as our flight has just been called to the gate.

    Thanks for all your help.

WOW, MCO/CPH/DUB/NCL! Mammoth journey. You might need another holiday after that trip.

Next time NCL/SFB/NCL with Thomson perhaps?

The plane landed 2h43m late so no compensation is due (whether or not the delay-reason is extraordinary).

That is odd, because I did all the times on my phone. When the tyres hit the ground it was 2 hours 55 minutes late. When we got to the gate it was just over 3 hours. When we got off, it was 3 hours 15 minutes.
