    Thanks for the response.

I thought I saw mention of some providers pay slightly more, perhaps on the export rate as an incentive, is this the case?

Some while ago Utility Warehouse offered a discount off their very expensive electricity prices if you used them to claim FIT. Not sure if it still has that offer.

However beware of the prices and conditions when using UW.
  • I understand that Ovo will only provide the FIT service to an existing customer albeit that it would continue to service an ex-customer.

Ovo stopped the deemed tariff quite abruptly when I had a smart meter fitted capable of measuring export. This was in their terms and conditions and was fair in the circumstances. I would have considered other options if I had know that smart metering provided for export measurement.

Presumably, there are people with smart meters (with export reading capability) that are still benefiting from deemed export. Loss to me is about £40 a year.

I think it's probably still true to say that if you're buying electricity from one of the 'main RECs' none of the others will accept your FIT contract (though there are a couple of smaller FIT companies who will accept anyone). If your electricity provider is a non-FIT one, you can apply to any of the ones who do do FITs

But there's really not much to choose between FIT providers. Some of them are currently faster paying than others - but there's no guarantee they'll stay that way for 20 years.
