Closing Bank:

I applied for a halifax and natwest account as I didn't know which one was gonna accept me but these are the two banks I wanted, anyways they both accepted me but I only need one, I am gonna close the natwest one, will this have a negative affect on my credit files, and how long do they take to appear on the files, as mine are still not on them, will they be on just one file or all three of them?.

I'd leave the Natwest open, with probably £100 in it.

You know what banks and computer systems are like, and it's always best to have a backup.

That could be an option but just thought get rid as I ain't using it now but didn't know if this would do good or bad or neither for my credit files.
  • Having two bank accounts will have no negative impact on your credit file at all.

You might also want to keep the Natwest one open for bank account switching incentives in the future. Just use it to transfer a few quid into every so often and make a couple of withdrawals as otherwise they have a habit of not sending out new debit cards when the existing ones expire.

I definitely agree that it is always useful to have a back up account just in case.

    Good luck.
  • Does it have a positive affect on your credit file if you close a bank account, if not i will just stick £100 in it like the person said on here and leave it open, as i might need it one day like you say and current accounts aint exactly easy to open (need to search credit files etc first).
