Changing a boiler timer

Hello all,
I am just wondering if anyone can tell me how hard it would be to change this boiler timer.
We just moved in to a new house and it has an old boiler that seems to work ok. Its just the rotating timer at the top does not work.
We have been told that it should not be too difficult to change it but I am wondering what a suitable replacement would be for it.

What are you doing in my kitchen!! We used to have a similar (dual) timer for controlling electric panel heating and the problem was the synchronous motor used to rotate the timer - it had failed. Would have cost more to repair so replaced with Horstmann Centaur clock/temperature controllers in each room. For a boiler you cannot go far wrong with a Drayton like this - seven day control - or similar.

In terms of complexity of replacing one for the other, any competent electrician should be able to do it. It will help if you have the manual/wiring diagram for the boiler.0 -
If you search online you'll find compatibility charts showing what wires need to be changed to convert to a more modern programmer.Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.0

There is a Randall 3060 for sale for £42.50 on eBay here. if you want to take a chance on an untested item.
Personally I would probably spend a bit more on a new and more modern timer if you can find one that is compatible with your boiler.0
