Stripping walls, plug sockets and plasterboard wall

started stripping walls in our 1930's house, and am wondering the best way to deal with plug sockets, obviously we cant soak the wall about the socket, what do you normally do?
Also, one of the walls in a plasterboard wall, thats been papered with what looks like lining paper, can we soak this wall to strip it, ready to be plastered?
Apologies if simple questions but or last 2 homes were new builds, so this is all new to us

When you say 'soak' do you literally mean wet through or just the damp from a wallpaper stripper, which should be ok - turn the mains to the socket off if you like.
I'd be careful with the plasterboard too - not too wet as the top 'paper' covering is pretty thin - again, a stripper might be better. I got mine from Screwfix for £22.99 and it's paid for itself in terms of time very quickly.0 -
Reviving an old post, as we spent time doing the garden instead during the summer.
Am I ok to use a wallpaper steamer to strip thick lining paper from a plasterboard wall? If not how else do you prep a papered plasterboard wall to get skimmed?0
