We went skiing in Czech earlier in the year and at the bedroom windows they had the fleece IKEA blankets, cream with hole puched pattern. They used these that IKEA to hang them. They looked so cosy (even though the windows in such places are so well double glazed their is not draught :rotfl:). I want to do some for DS3's room now.

I've made my sausage dog to go along the front door from a remnant from the living room blinds and an old cushion inner - all thanks to this thread.

    Hi Richard

As there is an existing thread running on preparing for winter and this has dropped down the board, I have merged this to keep the two to keep the discussion together .

This helps future users find the advice all in one place. :j

    Thanks

I can't remember if this has already been mentioned on this thread but I've heard in a few different places that there has been a poor wheat harvest so I guess we can expect flour prices to rise. Being able to make my own bread when the weather was too bad to get out was a real help last winter so I'm thinking of stocking up a wee bit on flour. Plus I get a discount if I buy in bulk! :j
Trying to spend less time on MSE so I can get more done ... it's not going great so far! :)
Sorry if I don't reply to posts - I'm having MAJOR trouble keeping up these days!

I've heard this too NB, and also animal feed went up 30% so meat is likely to rise as well. Good fun innit ?

Great, I'm glad it will be of use to you.

It is a bit fiddly at first trying to get the tension right, it feels like nothing is happening. If you make the pole too long you nearly give yourself a hernia trying to squeeze it in to fit in the alcove, just extend it one bit at a time and keep trying it!

Regarding stocking up on flour, is the best way to keep it to transfer into freezer bags and freeze it?

I dread getting beetles in there even if it is unopened in the cupboard.
