Aw what a gorgeous baby Sammy Kaye, are you still in your flat or have you got a house yet?

Well since I've got a couple of weeks off work my mind turned to preparing for winter so today I bought an oil filled heater for DS2 room. It was half price at £19.99 so I'm well chuffed.

My central heating broke last year and I said I wouldn't get it fixed until I have enough money save to replace the boiler. This is paying dividends now because my monthly DD for gas is going to reduce from £55 to £34 per month (the water is heated by gas and the living room has a gas fire).

PS in case people don't know, Argos has a clearance sale on atm because the new catalogue is due out on Saturday.

Csarina, tell me more about this fan ? How does it work etc?

You put it on top of the stove away from the pipe, the heat from the stove rotates the fan which draws in cold air and pushes the warm air out,

Have a look at country Kiln web site. I did not get mine from there, waiting for it to come, not that we have the fire on now. I first saw them in a display of stoves. ooooooohhhhh I have just noticed I have another gong, whats that for then??

  • I'm usually very unprepared for winter but have decided that it's now time to leap into action. I've been meaning to top up the loft insulation for a couple of years but I've never got round to it, I usually wait until the house is freezing and then the last thing I want to do is climb up into the loft. My fuel bills last year were getting way out of hand so I've just bought 15 rolls of insulation (there is a buy 1 get 2 free offer on at the moment), I've used my cashback site too!

Just got to get the reflective stuff for the radiators and some rugs and fleeses and I should be halfway there...

Ah I cant use one then. My stove is built right into the chimney and only sticks out 4" from the wall.

Shame, if you look at the video on YTube it shows how it works. ZaraZara has two she sent me a message about hers, they work really well. I am looking forward to getting ours. Roll on winter. curtains drawn, fire going and hand quilting.........no more cold feet hooray!!:D:D

My problem (which isnt really a problem !) is that our stove is very very hot. The living room is like a sauna and we have to leave the door open every so often to let cooler air in. I just thought this fan would even out the temp. But is not a worry , I can get off my !!! and open a door LOL
