Please could anyone tell me where to get some of that foamy stuff to put around the doors as draught excluders? And the instant double glazing stuff for windows? .When you get to the end of your rope, tie a knot and hang on

Feels like winter's here too Mardatha, though no snow. It's cold, wet n' windy, and thaks to all the ideas on this and other O/S threads - I didn't have to go out coz I have stocked up cupboards and am going to do a nice chicken dinner in pressure cooker - which I dug out from under the stairs last week. Haven't used it much for a while, but with all prices going up - am trying not to put oven on! Hope you are well wrapped up and nice n ' cosy warm.:hello:When you get to the end of your rope, tie a knot and hang on

Very cold, dull, damp, windy and miserable here today.
Only opened the curtains at 10.00am and even then wondered why I'd bothered. They were closed again at 4.00 and the heating put on.
We've just finished our evening meal and the place feels much warmer now. Going to turn the heating down a bit (hope OH doesn't notice) but will light some candles and switch the flame effect on on the fire - should help to keep the illusion of warmth going :rotfl: .0 -
Im still waiting for the baffle plate for my duel fuel burner!!!!!!

Not bad at all here today - bright with remains of overnight dampness but doesn't feel too cold.
Didn't get up until 8.30 - what a waste of an hour and a half of central heating !!!
I really don't want to have a 'too lazy' day - so may get a shower and go and do some more christmas pressie shopping.0 -
If you try putting moisture trap or moisture trap refill - that should bring up condensation crystals for you in Wilko's catalogue - good luck !
I typed in moisture trap and got this..............

EEK!!
They do have some we were in there yesterday!
By the way , related to above. We sadly had to buy mouse poison yesterday , it was £2.69 in Wilko and exactly same pack was £3.89 in Morrisons.
So if anyone has plans for their OH they can save money too ! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:Decluttering, 20 mins / day Jan 2024 2/20 -
Oystercatcher, any chance of catching your mice with humane traps? Years ago we had an infestation of mice (not helped by the fact that the kids and I fed them choc biscuits - much to DH's rage when he found out hehe) and in a few days we got rid of all of them by putting them in the church garden across the road from us.
It was a great few days, with the kids waking up and jumping out of bed early in the morning to see if there were any mice in the traps!

Caterina,
Someone else suggested the humane traps, it sounds a nice idea but you are the first person I 'know' who has had a good experience with them. People I have spoken to say they didn't work at all. I'm not normally one for killing animals at all but it seems the only way
I've had mice in the house a couple of times before and really struggled to get rid of them so want to prevent the problem really early this time.
At the moment they are just nibbling my potatoes and bird seed in the garage but the house is very near. We have overlapping tiles on the upper part of the house and I think the mice can easily squeeze between the tiles to access the wall space and then the rest of the house .
It's amazing how noisy the little things are!
