they are quite pricey, my brother bought them for me for yule last year as I was suffering with season affected disorder, and they worked brilliant.
Morrisons are selling these energy saving lightbulbs just now 5 for 50p! (or 39p each)
  • Hiya - this may sound like a daft question, but how can I draft-proof my bay windows? The house is mostly double glazed except the 2 big bays (our bedroom and living room), I can see the voiles moving with the breeze some days and although we have heavy curtains in both bays, there must be something more I can do!?

    Thanks

Is the draft coming from where the openers are? if so you can buy thin foam strips (usually in a role) that sticks onto the frame to seal the gap between opener frame..its an old idea but works really well on doors and windows. I have used it around our front door and it only took about 5 minutes . Got it from wilkos but is sold in loads of hardware shops and places like woolworths too.
JAN GC- £155.77 out of £200:D FEB GC £197.31 out of £180:o. MARCH GC - out of £200
  • Thanks - yes it is from the openers, one year OH gaffer taped the one in our bedroom (nice design feature lol) but we took it off in the milder weather - was looking for something a bit easier on the eye so what you suggest sounds great! I'll get down to Wilkos this weekend. Thanks again.

What colour is your living room? and "how" big would your curtains need to be to touch the floor..if you don't mind me asking ;)

Oooh sorry, missed this post - size um maybe 6 foot ish long, maybe a bit longer would have to measure it later :o

Colours - we have cream curtains at the moment (tab top ones from Argos) but the room has chocolate brown sofa's with a kind of rich tea biscuit colour carpet ;).
working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?
  • Have just bought a Slumberland electrically heated throw from Argos. Expensive at £69.99, but pence to run. It is designed to wrap around you whilst whatching TV or whatever. Looked on internet, but only Slumberland seems to produce one, which is a surprise.

aldi have nice thermals in today. Top and long johns for £7.99 the pair. I bought some as they are fantastic under my jumper and trousers when I ride my bike. Very comfy and the ladies tops are v necked long sleeved. They are the wicking type rather than fleecy. Also insoles, fleece topped over a silver base for 99p

It definitely feels colder this afternoon so I`m upstairs in a minute to put another layer on
  • Hi guy's please forgive me if this has been posted already as I've not had a chance to read all the way through yet.

But if I remember rightly a friend of mine contacted her local council and they do a scheme for insulating your loft and it costs a tiny amount, I believe she called it a grant and all she had to pay was £100 and they come and install it for you too. Trust me if you were to insulate it yourself with the thick stuff it costs a lot more than £100.00

Not sure all councils do it but it's worth a try.

    Hope this helps x

Damart used to do thermal snoods, don't know if they still do.I've got a couple and they're lovely and warm.Must admit I only wear them when I go to Austria every Christmas,it gets so cold you dare'nt go out without something round your head and ears.Might get some funny looks if I wore them here.

Personally...I like things like this...and a lot of them are really flattering. So - I just think "blow the cultural norms in this country - they dont matter a d...n" and wear what I please in that respect.
