Hi

I'm currently with First Utility and am eligible for the WHD as part of the broader group. I can save almost £140 by switching (£80 after cancellation fees) but cannot find the date I need to be on supply with BG/Sainsburys in order to apply for the WHD with them. If I can't get it then there's no point switching until March.

Does anyone know the date I need to be on ele supply with Sainsburys to get the WHD with them?

Thanks

  • I believe that, for the broader group of WHD recipients, each supplier operates its own scheme with varying eligibility criteria and probably with varying start dates for applications. I think that each supplier has a fixed budget each year for broader group WHD payments, and when it is gone it is gone. I don’t think I would risk paying a £60 exit fee in the hope of receiving a discretionary payment of £140.

Have a look at this - https://www.gov.uk/the-warm-home-discount-scheme/eligibility - if you click on each supplier link in turn, you will get some idea about how each supplier operates their scheme.

Timmy - the 12th July date refers to the 'core' group of WHD recipients.
