Avoiding Win10 due to privacy concerns?

I'm running Windows 7, and I recently noticed that my firewall was flagging up attempts by Microsoft files (invagent.dll and consent.exe) to transmit some unknown data.

I discovered that a handful of Windows updates seem to be responsible, and thought that anyone scared-off of Windows 10 due to privacy concerns might want to make sure that they have removed the relevant updates to stop random Windows 7/8 files from "phoning home" whenever they feel like it.

Here's how to check and remove them:

Just thought I'd post it here in case anyone is interested... :)

Yawn. Don't you two have anything better to do?!

Anyway, it's also worth disabling the Customer Experience Improvement Program:

You must be running a crazy locked down system to block all unknown outgoing connection requests!

At the worst you get spam at the best you will worry about it, move on nothing to see here.

Uh... I dunno. It seems like a sensible policy to me! But I wouldn't expect anyone not interested in IT to care much.

I just naturally think that my computer should do what I tell it; not what someone else does. I own it; not Microsoft.

incorrect , you licence it (the O/S), and they are allowed to alter , amend or indeed stop providing updates and help for it
