OMG my daughter hasn't got into halls at uni and now is staying at home and going to commute
Soooo will have to get a new computer for us and she and dd2 can use our existing one ( got to be a bonus in there somewhere!)
Anything good out there at the moment pls - no doubt it will have to be fast enough to play the simms, download music etc although we use it as wp. and normal general use.
Any recommendations greatfully recieved

Dell also have this...
http://configure.euro.dell.com/dellstore/config.aspx?c=uk&cs=ukdhs1&l=en&oc=D08V01a
drop the warranty to 1 year, upgrade the memory to 1Gb and that gives you a total of £252.69 including a 19 inch TFT monitor.
For the range of Dell offers go to www.dmxdimension.co.uk. As well as the front page headliners, check out down the LHS the link to Vostro range.

Hi-thanks for posts above. Have also seen this; don't know how to do a short link
http://configure.euro.dell.com/dellstore/config.aspx?b&c=uk&kc=a&l=en&oc=d08vs2a&s=dhs&fb=1
Slimline version: any pos and cons on this pls?
Also is it worth upgrading the processor to E6550 second option ie. will we notice it?
Looks like its between the three mentioned here; we already have a Dell and have been pleased with it. Don't have much of a clue in interpreting what the specks mean in real terms, so would appreciate any comments as we don't want to buy what we don't need but at the same time the kids will no doubt need more than we will.:D and they show no signs of going:rolleyes:0 -
not sure if the 2nd one would play the sims without more ramEx forum ambassador

Well that's a bit of a priority here!.
DH not too happy with half height cards on the slimline so looks like your recommendation thanks Browntoa.
Any changes in spec on that which might be worthwhile for the future or is it man enough as it is do you think please?0
