Partial re-wiring on rooms not whole house

Hi All,
About to purchase a house which is partially re-wired - the owners have had up-to-date wiring done in the back and side extension and the converted Garage but old wiring still is in the upstairs bedrooms (x4) and the hallways and downstairs living room.
Am thinking to have a lodger in one of the bedrooms so thinking about re-wiring done on the rest of the house.
Maybe a question for an electrician but wanted to know how much disruption this will cause to the newly wired rooms and whether the whole house needs to be done rather than just some rooms?
Also, can re-wire costs be negotiated in the sale price of the house? We have just found out this needs to be done after offer price has been accepted but if it will be expensive I would like to revise my offer.
Thanks!

I'm not an electrician, but you can have separate new circuits added without disrupting the others - may need a new consumer unit though if there's no spaces left

Rewiring can be disruptive to the rest of the house in accessing underfloor etc to run new cables and chasing out walls.

If it's a safety thing you're worried about, then a modern consumer unit should give adequate protection. The wiring in my terraced house is perhaps 30+ years old, but my electrician said it's fine, he just changed to a modern consumer unit which was enough to get me a safety certificate.

Just to add, unless your survey has said the wiring is dangerous, then it is likely something you'll have to accept in the house price, though there's no harm trying!

Firstly don't expect a discount on the purchase price because of your choice to (partially) rewire. This would be seem as routine maintenance.

Partial rewiring is as disruptive as a full rewire. Floorboards have to be ripped up, walks chased out, furniture mived etc etc.

Yes true the wiring may be safe because the current owner seems ok with it - but it just seems so old - vey strange looking TV point and old small sockets in the skirting boards.
So when you say it is as disruptive as full rewire, that means even the new rooms will have to have walls broken and floorboards pulled up?

Normally not, but without looking at it it's impossible to tell.
