Sports Direct Exchanges

I'm a little confused as to where I stand on this. We bought 3 pairs of shorts from sports direct at £2.99 a pair but later my other half decided he needed them in a larger size. The receipt said to return the items with 28 days to get and exchange or credit note.
I thought this would be a really simple task... Turns out I was really wrong! I could only find 2 pairs in the larger size, went to the till and asked if I could swap 2 pairs and get a credit note for the other pair.
Apparently I bought the shorts on one of their "week offers" so now the shorts are more expensive, either £7 each or two pairs for £10. They said I could exchange them BUT I would have to pay the extra to have them. So to have 2 pairs instead of 3 I was going to have to pay an extra £1.03 and if I had found a third pair, I would have had to have paid £8.03 to exchange all three!
Apparently if i had gone in 2/3 days after i bought them then thats fine, they would exchange them. I couldn't understand their logic!
Apparently it was in their terms and conditions for the weekly offer... So why aren't we as customers made aware of this. Apparently there was a poster in the window. They apparently take photos every week of their store windows and email them to head office. So when I asked to see this, they refused.
Where do I stand? I bought 3 pairs originally now only have two and paid more!

If you bought in store then there are no statutory rights to refund/exchange unless goods are faulty.
If they're not faulty, then you're reliant on the terms of their exchange policy.
From the sounds of things they're entirely willing to give you the full value of the items on a credit note, just the problem is that it wont be enough to repurchase the items as the price has increased.
I'm afraid you can't force them to lower the prices.
Sports direct are far from the best when it comes to enforcing statutory rights, so I wouldn't hold out much hope of any goodwill gestures from them. You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -
I don't see where your problem is, it was a weekly offer and now it's over. You got it wrong not them, their tills won't allow a straight exchange because their computer says no.0

They are doing exactly what they are supposed to do legally, and no more. You spent £10 and return items for a credit note or an exchange and you still have that £10 to spend. The fact that the items you now want are more expensive is immaterial, you spent £10 and you still have £10 to spend.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
