One cannot assume the owners takes care of the Place with dogs either. Safer to assume the worse and get rid of fleas etc.
Don't want to out find ou that chocolate stain wasn't dessert a year down the line.
Unless owner is prepared to show vet history etc. likely they will tell you to put it somewhere."It is prudent when shopping for something important, not to limit yourself to Pound land/Estate Agents"

It is too much of an assumption, but there is probably a strong correlation between the the number of animals/ types of animals owned and the presence of related odours/other side-effects.paddy's_mum wrote: »That's actually one helluva big assumption that if people have dogs, then the place will be left filthy!
With our last vendors there were dogs, cats, goats, horses, and, at one time, a cow, so we knew there might be a few issues.;)

We eyed a rather suspicious hump in the lawn with apprehension, especially as it was surrounded by large stones, but it contained no remains that we could distinguish.
It was not until about a year had gone by that the council guy came to inspect the horse burials......Yes, plural!

Gosh I'm really surprised this is such a big issue. I would have thought if the place looked ok that would be a good indicator.
I would have new carpets regardless of if they had pets/were a dog sitter. I have two dogs, one doesn't moult and the other does but cleanliness is a big thing for me. Most people who come around are surprised we have dogs if they quickly pop in unless there are some toys still littered about to give it away etc.
Is the house carpeted throughout? I know lots of people who have areas their dogs don't spend much/any time. Many don't allow them upstairs ever. Unless the house looked really bad I wouldn't be at worried. As I said I would get new carpets anyway though, not a fan of carpet and all the germs and grub it harbours at the best of times...0 -
Cheap carpets are a false economy (unless your rooms take end-of-roll sizes), as they soon wear out.0

So when the cheap carpet wears out, you buy another?
We don't all want the same carpet for 20 years, times and fashions and colours change.63 mortgage payments to go.
