Taking sweets abroad

Hope someone can give me some info as have tried different airline sites but cant get any info.
I want to know if we can take sweets abroad, someone told me that they would have to be wrapped and sealed in thier original packets or bags.
I want to take some stuff to Cuba when we go on hols, things like soaps, shampoos, clothes etc for the locals, I have also got some small toys, books etc for the kids, but wanted to get some sweets as well.
Was thinking along the lines of the pic and mix type sweets, but after someone said I might not be allowed as they are not in thier actual packaging, I thought I would ask in here.:D

If stuff is packed in your hold luggage I cannot see why there would be any problem with taking toffees.
I usually have some liquorice allsorts in my carry-on bag but they are for me to eat on the flight!
Watch your weight allowance in your hold luggage. They are very keen these days and will charge extra if you are over the limit allowed.0 -
Shouldn't be a problem at all.
When we went to Oz last year we has sweets (or lollies as ths aussies called them!) in our cases and hand luggage....They noted they were there but then theyare strict in Oz....but no problems whatsoever.
As above....please watch your luggage weight allowance. They are very keen! Lot's of people are finding themselves having to fork out extra at the airport to cover the extra wweight.
XoXoX!!73lb lost!!

Also check the Customs regulations for your destination country.
And since Cuba is a major sugar producer, I'm not sure that they need sweets.0 -
Take loads of pens to the local school and less harmfull for thier teeth;)
My sister collects all the charity pens that come through the post in a year and take them alongIf you look anything like your passport photo....Your too ill to travel0 -
Actually savapenny I have all these too
, I have excersise books, notebooks, tons of pencils, rubbers, as well as toilettries, caps toys etc.
But have been told they are crying out for sweets and chewing gum, as they are so expensive, same as the toiletries.
But I wanted to make sure about the packaging of the sweets, as if they are opened the customs might think they have been tampared with.
But I did on Voyagers advice and check with the customs, and there is no mention of sweets, but apparently your only allowed to take approx £26 pounds worth of stuff not for personal use, in other words gifts, or they charge you duty.0
