HP Pavilion Laptop

Hi all,
I got one of the above laptops this March. I've had it 5 months and I can't say I have used it that much.
The little mouse / clicker thing is doing my head in. When I first got it, the mouse / clicker thing was quite stiff but I thought it was because it was new. The previous laptop I had was awesome, just one touch and it clicked. Same with the laptops at work. On this Pavilion, I touch it and it makes no difference, I press it and it still makes no difference. I literally have to smack it down for it to register.
Is this normal? Is there any way around it?
Could someone tell me if I am doing something wrong?
Many thanks in advance.

I always use a wireless mouse with a nano receiver plugged into a USB port rather than the clicker as it is much easier and more efficient.0

Some have bluetooth.
If the OP's does, they could use a bluetooth mouse, and avoid tying up a USB socket.0 -
external mouse defeats the object
if the clicker thing you refer to is a switch, use the touchpad instead.
if the clicker thing you refer to is a touchpad, adjust the sensitivity or use the switch instead.Don't you dare criticise what you cannot understand0 -

I also use a wireless mouse, can't be bothered with mouse pad on the laptop0

Send it back under warranty? It's meant to be fit to use without adding extra equipment.0
