    Been to @sd@ tonight.
I took a list, I only took cash.
I have decided that I should keep a tenner in my bag in case of bargains at reduced prices-it would be silly to miss out on a good deal of it's something I would use and can save money.
Anyway, I followed the list. I had milk on the list. I only deviated slightly as I bought fresh milk as per list, then I bought a carton of long life milk. Apart from that, it was mission accomplished and I only spent just over £18. I didn't see any thing reduce that tempted me and having a list and actually budgeting and working out how much I was spending as I went along, helped me enormously. I was consciously looking for the very best prices I could find for the products I wanted.
Freezer inventory has been done. :j
    Grocery inventory needs doing next.
I'm making leek and potato soup with the stock I made and it smells yummy. :)
We decided on chicken pasta with mushrooms and vegetables thrown in for our evening meal and there was enough for 2 small extra portions. So they are in the fridge and will no doubt be eaten for lunch tomorrow. :)

Well done on the asda shop! Good idea to keep a bit of cash for bargains.

Been up since just gone 6-someone decided to get up early today. :(
    Today will be a challenge.
Charity shops are a weakness of mine and I will be in the vicinity of a few today. So I just have to stay strong and resist temptation. I need to Kon Marie my home-not keep filling it to the rafters.
I need to go through my clothes again, they seem to breed up there, even though I haven't bought anything since I sorted them out.
I also need to sort out the main grocery cupboards today. The contents look more than a bit precarious and its a wonder that nothing falls out when I open the door. :o
Mr tc has had breakfast and meds and is pottering! Lol
Right, off to check online banking-see what Tilly tidies can be made. :)

Now I know why everything nearly falls out of the cupboard... I have 8 tins of beans, 14 tins of soup and enough pasta to sink a ship! :o

  • Once the money is gone against the mortgage you can't get it back.
    :).

As I have just recently went into a new deal, I learnt that any overpayments I make, I can then opt to either pay less or nothing until the o/p have caught up, then have to start paying again. To me its a safe guard, if I needed money one month, then can opt to pay nothing to the mortgage as long as I have o/p by that months amount.

Maybe a lot of mfw don't want to know this. Just be strict and don't use unless there's an emergency.

    Hi A Frayed Knot. :)
Thank you. Now you come to mention it, a few years ago we needed some money to do some maintenance on the house and our mortgage company said we could miss some payments to free up some of the money we had overpaid on the mortgage. We were good though and only used what we needed. They told us that we would not be able to do that again for 12 months.
We didn't really have an emergency fund as such at that time. This is why I'm trying to build up some emergency money so that I don't ever need to draw down any of the overpayments we have made.
    :)

  • Hi tattycath:)

Yeap, I was amazed, o/p then stop to catch up also a build in holiday payment as well, I think there was something else but not paying attention as want to o/p as much as I can.

It's a bit like when you don't want a credit card or loan, they bombard you with offers and applications, anything to get you into debt. In simple terms, they encourage you not to make o/p's and just stick to agreed monthly payment.

Yes, I can relate to that. :)
When we first started making overpayments on the mortgage, the lenders tried to adjust our monthly repayments - that totally defeated the object, so we had to ring them and tell them to keep the payments the same, no matter how much extra we paid off. :)
