AVG protected me, now can't delete email.

I have an message in my email program (Windows Live Mail), which was identified by AVG as a threat, so I chose the "Protect Me" option.

Now, when I try to delete it, I get the message "An unknown error has occurred".

I've tried dragging it to the deleted items folder, but I get the same message.

Any ideas?

AVG may have already quarrantined any attachment with the email. If no attachment, then it simply contains a link, and as long as you don't follow that link it can do no harm.

I have similar problems with Avast's email scanner. Avast "locks" the email, preventing it from being opened... unfortunately it prevents it from being tagged as spam or deleted.

So I just disabled the email scanner. If I download attachments, they'd be scanned by the file scanner. And it's always fairly obvious from the subject and sender fields whether an email is spammy/malicious.

Possibly, but that still won't remove it from Windows Live Mail.

Have a look in quarantine and delete it from there
