    Gulp!! now I am embarrassed.
We have £97,000 sitting in a basic current account with Natwest - it's been there for just over 12 months earning nothing. If £30000 of it had been put into an ISA we would have got more than we have even at 1.5%.

£97K is £12K over the amount protected under the FSCS scheme. As from January next year this is reducing from £85K to £75K. I'm sure NatWest won't go bust, but is it a chance worth taking?
    :D I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe :D

If your partner is getting £9k a year for working 32 hours per week they are getting less than minimum wage.

Might be worth checking see if they are due a pay rise.
