just been in Europe (Greece) and found that there may well still be a case for Travellers Cheques against credit/debit cards. I bought TCs from the nearest large branch of M&S (very helpful, no ordering required, and in sterling, any usused can simply be credited to your bank account on return to UK). The exchange rate in Greece for TCs was E1.48; 2 days earlier the Euro buying rate in M&S was 1.43. I reckon to have been better off with TCs, even allowing for commission, especially with the added security.
