6 year history

Hi all
This is probably a stupid question but I need to ask!
The 6 years of reports that I keep seeing quoted, how is this shown on your file. The reason I ask is that I have an old Lloyds credit card that was closed in November 2010. When I checked my credit file it shows all of the payments back to 2006, do lenders see all of this or do I see more than them? If they do see all of this then that is showing them credit history over 9 years, not six, is that right?
Many thanks

Normally up to 6 years worth of history will be shown while the account is active on a rolling basis.
When settled that is basically frozen in place and shows for the next 6 years, so in theory some history up to 12 years in some cases can show.
Lenders searching should see the same as far as I know.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

Hi, I know this thread is a couple of weeks old.
I had the same question. In that I shut a card at the end of 2011 but it had a late payment in 2009.
My other defaults (on a freemans account) from the same period are about to drop off. Will a late payment from a closed account over 6 years old have an adverse effect?
I am so annoyed that I didn't realise this, as otherwise I would have left the card open but it only had a £400 credit limit so it seemed pointless.
By October everything else on my report will be green.
Thanks in advance,

So let me get this right: your best bet to minimise credit file snooping is to stop using a card for six years and then close it?
We are frequently told, or it is implied, that data about you on the CRA's files is deleted after six years. Obviously not.0 -
I'm trying to establish how much impact a late payment marker from 2008 will have on a settled credit card account. My defaults have dropped off equifax yesterday and thought my report would be clean. I want to get a mortgage in the new year. Will this have impact? I just got accepted for the 19 month m&s card so things have definitely improved.0

Is this on a defaulted account where the default has dropped off then? If it is then all the account history will go with it and it will have no effect.
It's only on an undefaulted and then settled account that things can linger for longer, but when very old won't really be significant for most purposes.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB
