Can someone give me a timeline...

Hi all,

First time buying and selling so need some experienced opinions...

Sale:
Mortgage survey completed
Buyers offer waiting for outstanding documents
Our solicitor has sent draft contracts
We have returned sellers pack (F&F etc)
Searches applied for last week

Purchase:
Draft contract received
Seller's pack received
We have mortgage offer

That's all I know. Anyone able to advise what is left to do and possible timescales (I know it varies but averages will do).

Thanks!

What position is your vendor in with their purchase? There's much that's outside of your control.

We had our offer accepted on the 14th July so around 6 weeks in. I personally think we have another 4-6 weeks to go. It was a simple purchase at the start but its now turned into something a bit more complex as these things have a habit of doing. Solicitors are slow, really slow. They basically don't do anything without being prompted by action by the other side - so if someone goes off sick, or on hols you can expect *nothing* to happen during that time as they don't let each other know and carry on with stuff in the background. We have been hit hard with this as both our and their solicitors have been away due to the time of year. We basically lost 4 weeks IMHO. So far the only part that has gone faster than expected was the mortgage which took around 3 weeks ish.
