Handymen/Women! - How do I sort out this radiator?

We recently bought a house and its a bit of a project. I had taken all the radiators off the rooms we are decorating to remove old wallpaper etc.

I have them all back on and successfully bled - except this one. It's a different setup to the others. I have tried loosening and tightening the tall thin nut on the left of this image, but it doesnt seem to do anything. I have the heating on full. I think the flow isnt getting in.

Any advice? I dont want to call a plumber at this late stage after sorting out 8 radiators! I must sort it :rotfl:

    tightening the tall thin nut
Do you mean the bleed valve, it's usually at the top somewhere, maybe on the back?

Could the pin in the thermo valve be stuck?

Wrap an old towel around the flow pipe and slightly loosen the nut, if you get a trickle of water, tighten the nut up and loosen the nut between the valve and the radiator and see if you get a trickle from there.

Is the lockshield valve on the left fully open?

Turn both valves at either end as fully anticlockwise as you can. Look at the top left and top right of the radiator panel for a bleed valve, and release the air. Any heat to radiator?

Both were turned fully anti clockwise, and I let the pressure build up for an hour or so. The radiators hissed for a lifetime, then a bit of water came and I tightened it up. There was a little bit of heat spread from the temperature gauge side onto the radiator, but it was very mild and soon went away, its quite puzzling.

    failed or stuck TRV ??

try removing the top and gently moving the pin , or tap on the side with a hammer to see if it releases

Is there a particular way to get the plastic housing off?
