You are entitled to your view there is a problem with the HSBC processing of card payments. The facts remain that banks cannot show transactions they know nothing about, and that retailers don't always report purchases straight away (which includes not always asking for authorisation). Just because a purchase has been instantly reported in the past doesn't guarantee a similar purchase in the future will also be reported straight away.

If you prefer to stick with your theory instead of realising that your 'available balance' isn't necessarily the amount of money you have available to spend, you simply risk spending more than you have.
