Bank error

My bank have not updated my credit file for 4 years and I have 2 accounts registered at an old address. I have called them and trey said I would be contacted within 10 days by the appropriate department to discuss what they could do. In the meantime I have a mortgage application on hold and if this causes a delay I could incur legal charges if the house purchase does not go through on time. What leverage do I have with thre bank? Is 10 days to initial a corrective process reasonable?

Technically they have 40 working days, so 10 days is more than reasonable.

It's not always possible to get an answer 'now', and whilst this isn't ideal, it's unfortunately one of those things in life.

If you incur any charges as a result of it being a bank error, then you should be well within your rights to ask for a contribution towards this, however you should also have checked your file before this stage (not criticising, just giving advice)
