cork floor tiles

Options
Does anyone know how you can remove cork floor tiles - they look like they were stuck down about 30 years ago, there are two layers and they are really firmly stuck (and the glue is really sticky).

We have just bought a house that needs loads of work and although we've made some progress with the woodchip the cork tiles won't shift.

Any ideas gratefully received!

Thanks

Good insulation, Henster. Couldn't you keep them.
    Use them as a base.

thanks Ken68 - hadn't thought of that. Although they are old the tiles are not in bad condition, it's only at one edge that there is a small broken off piece.

Do you think you could put any type of flooring over it?

    Thank You

Am thinking of insulating a concrete floor with cork tiles, and would put back the carpet, which presently has a standard underlay.Perhaps have to take a bit orf the doors.
Not sure about clickety clack all the rage modern thin wood boards. Probably need more substantial support. How does is feel now walking over it. Spongy perhaps.

We had cork floors in an old flat, laid bedroom carpets over them no problem. They provide good noise reduction.

Thanks for your helpful replies - we've decided to go with the advice and leave the cork tiles down and carpet over them. A lot more appealing than unsticking them all!

    Thank you

Good for you Henster. I might do something similar with all these old wine bottle corks.Enough for a cupboard. :-)
