Question re car tax

Hi, I have purchased a new(used) car that i'm collecting Tues. :j

I pay for my current car tax via monthly direct debit. I want to use it until Monday night (filled it up yesterday so have a tank of petrol to use over the weekend) and sorn it from Tuesday the 1st as will be changing insurance over to new car and don't want to pay for 1 months tax for 1 day. How would I go about this?

Thanks in advance

    And sort out the DD.

If a payment goes out on your old car while the DVLA are still dealing with the SORN (or change of ownership) application you may have to go through hoops to get the payment back.
