Is it worth viewing a house before selling your own?

Well we viewed the house and it is decent enough. Would certainly suit us and we would aim to live there for a long time. Our place has viewers booked in for this week aswell so a few enquiries.
The estate agents told us that three others have offered for the house we viewed and the seller is in no rush to sell for whatever reason. They told us we need to offer by Wednesday afternoon if we wish.
What are our options now? I would have thought at least one of the people offering have the money ready whereas we obviously don't. Apparently all three offered the asking price. How do we know that's even true?!
I suppose there is nothing we can really do until er have a buyer so should just forget that house and look when we receive an offer?
Any more advice really is appreciated0 -
Forget other offers for a moment and decide what you would be willing to pay for it, if that's asking price then go for it.
They'll look at all the options and if they aren't on a rush to sell it then they may not be interested in someone who wants to complete quickly. With mine I could move as fast or slow as they liked/depending on the mortgage process which suited the seller as they have tenants.
Ultimately, the worst that happens is someone else gets it. Best, yours is accepted so you'll have to discuss a timetable & hopefully offers will come in on yours.0 -

Considering the fact that you aren't even in a position to make an offer that the vendor will accept. Why would the EA out rightly lie to you. Sounds as if you are grasping at straws.
Focus on selling your own property. Until then little point in speculating.0 -
We were in a similar position, saw the house we wanted for years and offered on it despite having just been in our place a few months. The seller isn't moving till February so it (hopefully) gives us loads of time to sell.
Trouble is the market here seems to have ground to a halt sopraying we have not made a terrible decision.0 -
Never get attached to a property until you are well down the line, ideally after exchange. We had a house fall through after an offer was accepted.
It may well take you 2 or 3 attempts.0 -
Its worth viewing if only to get a clearer idea of the market - and of what you really want. I thought I knew what I wanted until I started looking at the realities.0

Hi all,
Quick update and hopefully some more tips and advice if you will be so kind. The place we made an offer for has already sold so that one is long gone!
So we have had four viewers so far for our place and they all came Friday. One has made an offer of £5,000 under our asking price. We are awaiting the others to offer and apparently they are tomorrow.
In the meantime we have viewed two properties. Both are as much as we can afford. So will leave us barely nothing to decorate etc.
One is decorated poorly but is very big. We would definitely need a good £10k to sort it out. The sellers are a couple who already have place to move too. The property is up for £360k and they have not had an offer in almost three months. They seem pretty desperate. If we make an offer what would be realistic in these circumstances?0
